Taking Out The White Trash (Pierzynski)

Barrettcollision_2 Ok, I gave my props yesterday to White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski for his hard nose collision with Michael Barrett.  Now I am going to equally come down hard on him for his antics in todays game.  He thinks he is such a tough guy, a big wrestler, let him take on Big Z, I’d like to see him get his greasy *** kicked.  In case you didn’t see it, after Pierzynski hit a home run off of Zambrano in the fourth, he said something to Carlos while he was rounding the bases and when he reached home plate mockingly pointed to the sky like Zambrano does when he strikes out a batter.  There was no reason, especially after yesterday, to pull this kind of garbage. Carlos had to be restrained by Ramirez, Barrett, Harriston, and Cedeno.

Maybe I should be thanking the scumball.  I know what he was trying to do, get into Carlos’ head and throw him off his game, but all he did was further anger Joneshrsox the Cubs.  Both Konerko and Aramis hit two home runs, but the Sox were winning 4-2 going into the eighth, and it looked like the Sox would sweep.  Then the Cubs game to life, scoring four in the eighth and one in the ninth.  It was fitting that Michael Barrett hit the triple that tied the game.  Sox killer Jacque Jones hit a 2 run homer to put the Cubs ahead for good.  I hope all the boo birds in right field at Wrigley realize that this guy is hitting close to .300 for the month of May.  You can complain on talk radio or blogs or to your friends, but there is no reason to ever boo a Cubs player unless he says something negative about the fans.

The Cubs really needed this one.  After having a horrible month of May, they did exactly what they needed to do.  They grabbed one from the defending champs in their own park.  Win 2 of 3 in Wrigley, and the series ends up tied.  What the Cubs need to do is build upon this come from behind victory and get a different kind of streak going, a winning one.  I am not kidding myself, I know the Cubs don’t have a championship calibur team right now, but they definately have a better team than they have been showing the last month.  Maybe the craziness of this weekend will be able to light a fire under their *** that the manager couldn’t.  They face Florida, and then a red hot Braves team, followed by divisional series against Cincinnati, St.Louis, Houston, Cinncinati again, and Houston again.  These next two weeks will determine the rest of the season.  Play hard and strong, and there still may be hope.  Choke, fall apart, then back up the truck and dump a bunch of these guys.  Through everything we’ve been through this season, there is still a small chance to turn this around.  They just need to believe.  Of course, not the Cubs are reporting that Kerry Wood has a sore shoulder and may miss Tuesdays start.  Not what we need to hear.  It’s looking more and more like Kerry’s tenure as a Cub is coming to an end.  Finally.

Barrettwindsup As far as the Sox go.  I had a great time at U.S. Cellular, I thought most of the fans were pretty cool, and I have a lot of respect for the way they play the game, especially seeing Konerko hit two home runs and go back into the dugout with class.  As far as Pierzynski goes, he is a cheap shot artist, arguably one of the most hated players in the league, and I can see why.  Again, he acted surprised, pretending that he had no idea what he did wrong.  Nobody’s buying your act A.J.

Barrettfight_2 You are a slimy, greasy, piece of white trash, and I doubt yesterday will be the last punch you ever take.  What you don’t realize A.J. is that your actions could have caused people in the stands to do something stupid or get hurt.  This is a baseball game. Nobody needed to put gas on this intercity fire. I hope the White Sox fans can see that what A.J. did today was ****, just like many Cubs fans saw the collision on Saturday as hardnosed baseball.

And three more words for you *******

Once again Mr. Crawley, you reveal your hypocrisy. Glad to hear you had a good time at the Cell, but for you to call out AJ as a showboat when Zambrano points to the heavens after an inning, or fist pumps after he strikes out the first batter in the game is pretty lame. If the “Big Z” cannot take it, he shouldn’t dish it out himself. I find if laughable this guy thinks his own silly gesticulations and obnoxious antics are acceptable on the mound, but when somebody else does less, it is not acceptable. Can’t have it both ways. If you’re gonna dish it out, you better be able to take it. Zambrano is just as much a showboat and an agitator as AJ is, so shut up and stop acting as if your silly, childish Cubbies are any better than Sox players.

AJ is an agitator. I’ll give you that, and you would LOVE to have him on your team. You know it, and so does everybody else. The difference between Michael Barrett and AJ is that AJ makes his point in subtle ways within the game, not walking down the first base line after Oswalt or punching a guy in the face who humiliated him in front of 39,000 fans. Barrett was humiliated and schooled. That’s why he clocked AJ.

The Cubs have nothing to play for this year except their “World Series” with the Sox. Sad your World Series will be in the middle of the season, while the Sox will be working to repeat what your Cubbies have not pulled of in 98 years…

For the short time I’ve read this blog, I didn’t agree with everything you said, but I had respect for your point of view.

This column may be worse than Mariotti’s in last Sunday’s Sun Times. I hate having to point it out that way, but at least write the truth.
